My journey

2015 was the year I joined Makerere University. All the excitement and anxiety stated when I was admitted for my favorite course I had applied for , Bachelors degree in Software Engineering. And finally the long awaited day came, the reporting date.

It was a whole different environment and experience. Change of schedule where by I had more flexible classes and there was always more fee time to do other things after class like hanging out with fiends and watching favorite movies among others. This was the usual routine for some good time until towards End of Semester Papers when it was time to get more serious by having group discussions and reading a lot more in preparation for the finals.

My final year finally came through, the year where I summarized what I had covered in the four years through our final year project that we came up with me and my three group mates, titled “Promoting Buganda Culture though Animations”. It was a unique project sine it was an original concept about culture and it portrayed a sense of creativity.

There were a lot of fun events that marked wonderful memories such as beach bashes, birthday parties and house parties, these were all fun filled and network building since I would meet new people and friends.

One of the lessons I learnt at University is to be able to manage your time well, balancing between fun and books. Some people only realize it when its too late and end up re sitting papers simply because they gave more time to fun. Its always better to make enough time for books as well. And also to mind the friends that you make because not everyone is a good person and not evey one wishes you well.

In a nutshell, its very important to go to University and make the best of what we study since this greatly impacts us even after like in our careers and the decisions that we make in life.
